So for my birthday, I decided to save up so I could build myself a real computer.
I am VERY happy with the results and so I though I should share it. First of all here is a picture of it complete.
All up this computer cost about $700 and every cent is worth it. This computer is good enough for Chuck Norris himself to use.

The motherboard is an ASUS M4A78T-E here's a pretty picture of its specifics just below.
This is defiantly of the best motherboards I have ever ran too. Came with everything on a disc which installed by its self.
For RAM I went with the 3 sticks of 2GB Kingston HyperX KHX1600C9D3T1K3/6GX DDR3 RAM, Looks just as sexy as it runs. If anyone is thinking about RAM defiantly consider this!

Processor. For the processor I choose AMD. I got the AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition, came with thermal paste already applied to the CPU fan, made my life A LOT easier.
The power supply is a CoolerMaster eXtreme Power Plus 500W which only cost me $62. Its perfect. Lastly I just bought some pretty Cold Catholine Blue UV lights to make everything inside look a lot prettier.
At the moment I am saving up for some new HDD's and A graphics card. Any Suggestions?

What about extra cooling? The CPU fan is definatly not enough.

ReplyDeleteI would definitely opt for a better CPU fan. Hyper-212 Plus is a great one for it's price. Also, get some Arctic Silver 5 thermal paste for it.
ReplyDeleteHDDs: I always go with Western Digital Caviar Blacks for my main drive, and WD Caviar Green for backing my stuff up.
Graphics Card: Depends on your price range. Google something like "Best graphics card for the money" and you'll find plenty of up-to-date sites that will give you great comparisons.
All-in-all, nice little computer you built there. Gotta love that feeling when you get it all up and running. :)

ReplyDeleteNice rig! It certainly beats my five-year-old. Y'know, I've always wanted to be tech-savvy enough to build my own computer after hearing the benefits it has. Sadly, I wouldn't know where to begin. Got any resources you can share?
